February 2017: Europe Hotels Private Collection (EHPC), owner of W Amsterdam, is pleased to announce the publication of "The Story of a Bank that became a Spa", an engaging book exploring the history of the former Kas Bank's vault and its conversion into W Amsterdam's AWAY Spa. To be launched on the 17th of February with an event at W Amsterdam, the book showcases the unique vision of EHPC Owner and Founder Liran Wizman who, on his first visit to the building, recognised the vault's potential and re-purposed it to become a luxurious spa and trademark destination in the centre of Amsterdam. His vision was then translated into reality through the collaboration with interior designers Baranowitz + Kronenberg, architect Uri Gilad from Office Winhov and spa specialist Willem-Jan Kuipers from 4SeasonsSpa.

The Story of a Bank that Became a Spa visually guides the reader through the story of the bank during its prime and how it was converted into W Amsterdam’s AWAY Spa. Divided into multiple sections, the book first provides the historical perspective of the Bank's glorious past, featuring interesting anecdotes and a glimpse into its previous life through the testimony of its former visitors. The book also features exclusive interviews with the creative minds who contributed to the Spa's realisation: EHPC Owner Liran Wizman, Willem-Jan Kuipers from 4SeasonsSpa, interior designers Baranowitz + Kronenberg and architect Uri Gilad from Office Winhov. They all discuss their subjective encounters with the building and, mindful of the building's heritage and integrity, their individual journey to transform it. 

Featured throughout the book is a collection of captivating imagery from the past and the present, from archive black and white photographs of the bank to images of its new sumptuous, urban appearance. The visuals shed further light on the historical and architectural metamorphosis of the building. They take the reader through its progression from a place of cherished valuables and secrecy to an inviting, all-immersive setting for locals and travellers alike. Also featured in the book are the different materials and techniques utilised to translate this monumental location into a pinnacle of urban luxury.
