Producks design studio collaborates with Jaipur Rugs on the new Scales Rug

July 2016: Award-winning design studio PRODUCKS, founded by designers Yoav Avinoam and Gil Sheffi, unveil their first collaboration with hand-woven carpet manufacturer Jaipur Rugs, the Scales Rug. Inspired by the traditional patterns of oriental carpet design, the rug melds classic aesthetics together with design innovation to craft a unique wool felt rug.

The conception began over 2 years ago, investigating new production methods of carpet making. The rug is constructed by overlapping natural wool felt scales, producing a distinctive carpet surface.

"Our journey started with a meeting with Yogesh Chaudhary the CEO of Jaipur Rugs, in which we were officially introduced to the rug industry and the traditional manufacturing processes. We wanted to explore the technology, craft and typology and take it to a completely different place. To this regard, we were lucky to have Jaipur rugs support on such an unconventional approach to their usual methods." – Gil Sheffi, Co-Founder and Designer at Producks

"The entire process from concept to the actual product creation went very smoothly. Upon receipt of the prototype, we noticed it had changed very little from the initial sketch - it was warm, inviting and still felt very personal."- Yoav Avinoam, Co-Founder and Designer at Producks
